Lady GaGa attended The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards yesterday (January 31) in Los Angeles. She performed a medley of “Poker Face” and “Speechless” with Elton John. Lady GaGa won two out of the five awards she was nominated to, she won Best Dance Recording for “Poker Face” and Best Dance/Electronic Album for “The Fame”. The leading winners of the night were Beyoncé (with 6 awards including “Song Of The Year” for “Single Ladies”) and Taylor Swift (with 4 awards including “Album Of The Year” for “Fearless”). Lady Gaga is wanted as a judge on the US version of ‘The X Factor’. Blogger (and Lady GaGa’s friend) Perez Hilton announced via his website that Lady GaGa will be the opening act of the 2010 Grammy Awards to be held next Sunday (January 31) in Los Angeles. Perez states that GaGa is planning something “amazing”, that we wouldn’t want to miss… We wouldn’t miss her anyway, Would we? Lady GaGa thanked fans on a concert for helping raising more than US$500,000 for Haiti relief on a single day (watch video above). She announced yesterday (January 26) that the “GaGa for Haiti” day on Sunday netted half a million dollars for relief efforts in Haiti. “On ‘Gaga for Haiti’ day, in just 24 hours, with very minimal marketing and planning, all the little monsters all over the world made over half a million dollars for Haiti relief, I know [merchandise firm] Bravado fell off their chair. … They couldn’t believe it. So let’s sing along for Haiti right now so that they can hear us.” Lady GaGa’s label, Interscope Records, did not confirm the figures the singer reported. GaGa also said she would be donating all the gross from the ticket sales made on the show in New York on January 24 (the “GaGa for Haiti” day). According to MTV.com, GaGa half million figure comes as one of the top donations made by entertainment-related people added to the Friday night event “Hope for Haiti” raised more than $61 million for the earthquake-ravaged country. The “Hope For Haiti” album debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart with just 3 days of sales, and made history by becoming the first digital-only album to debut at #1. ![]() |
